Gala of the Royal Horses has come to the Coast. The act includes world renowned horses and flamenco dancers. They performed Friday at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. It was a busy Friday at the Coliseum while the Gala of the Royal Horses prepared for their performance. Master Gasser was saddling up all afternoon to practice tricks with his horses. The horses got to meet some audience members before the show started.
Gasser was born into a family that worked with horses for seven generations. He has been working specifically with equestrian royalty for 14 years now, and has toured all over Australia, Asia, and Europe. He says his show is different from others because they use different breeds of horses and incorporate dancers in their pieces. Gasser says his favorite part of the job is seeing new faces every day.
Gasser says, “To come to a new audience and listen to the crowd and see the crowd enjoy it. When I see our beautiful horses come out, you can see the eyes of the people, and then some ladies even cry a little bit. So the emotions and everything, it’s fantastic.” The horses know when they've put on a show when they end with a bow for their audience. Bright costumes and lively music complimented the Andalusian, Friesian, Lipizzaner, and Arabian horses in the performance. After their exhibition Friday, they will move on to Pensacola, Mobile, and several cities in Florida.
