As people continue to drive past the trailer where Janaya Thompson Thompson’s body was found, teddy bears and flowers remind them of the tragedy that took place. The question remains: what will happen to the property? The trailer was released back over to property management after the occupants had been evicted on the 14th.
Property managers tell News 25 they were the last ones in the trailer and had locked up after they left, saying that whoever left Janaya there must have broken in. Some community members tell News 25 they wish the trailer would be demolished.
Carlyna Belay, a vigil attendee, says, “It's a sad thing to happen, especially, you know, people around here in this neighborhood is gonna’ go by here, drive by this trailer and they're gonna’ see what happened. I mean, they're gonna’ remember, kind of bring back memories of what happened.”
Jerry Carriere, the trailer property manager, says, “I have no idea what we'll do with it because that belongs to the owner. I have no idea, but we'll probably get the property cleaned up and either re-sell it or re-rent it, one of the two.” The future of the trailer and the lot remain questionable.
