A vigil was held for Janaya Thompson Thursday night outside of the mobile home where her body was found. Earlier Thursday, News 25 went to the mobile home, where people from the community were putting together a memorial of stuffed animals and balloons.

Lots of neighbors were outside, visibly upset. Some were crying, some were praying, some were just mad. The area is still a crime scene and the police department is still investigating the mobile home. News 25 also went to the apartments where the little girl lived. Outside her home, family and friends gathered to console one another.

Quilesha Cooks, a family member, says, “All I can say is hold your children, love them. Watch them, and not just yours. If more kids are out, watch them as well, because danger is always somewhere lurking.”
