Dennis Burke, a long time Biloxi resident, was honored Wednesday by the Biloxi Lions Club as Biloxi's Outstanding Citizen for 2013. Burke has been dedicated to the Biloxi community his entire life, moving back to rebuild after Hurricane Katrina destroyed his home. He was nominated for this award by previous Outstanding Citizen award recipients and other community members. Burke says he is honored by the recognition, and is glad to see his children carrying out his legacy. Burke says, “I'm humbled and lost for words. Which anybody in this room will tell you, that's just not me, to be lost for words. What do you say? How do you sit here and listen to all of this and not be filled with a lot of emotion? I'm humbled.” This is the 83rd year the Outstanding Citizen award is being given out in Biloxi.
