Tuesday was former Moss Point Police Chief, Keith Davis', first official day at the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (M.D.M.R.), a day he has been anticipating since his announcement that he taking up the Chief of Marine Patrol position last week.
After getting some of his initial hiring information out of the way, Davis picked up his new uniform and got straight to his first task, meeting his new staff. While his office was being set up, Davis spent most of his time introducing himself to every staff member that he could, trying to get a feel for how the day to day operations run. There will be some challenges, since trading in squad cars for patrol boats will take some getting used to, but Davis feels that his new staff is supportive, and he can't wait to help make a difference in Mississippi.
Davis says, "Today's activities were just trying to acclimate myself to the office, and learning the staff. Everyone has been so inviting to me, and welcoming to me. I just can't say how pleased I am to be a part of the team."
Looking forward, Davis plans to spend the next several days evaluating how things are running in the office before any new procedures can be implemented.
