The City of D'Iberville is one step closer to getting their long awaited casino, the Scarlet Pearl. At a special meeting Thursday, the City Council agreed to amend their contract with Land Holdings Development to allow Wilmington National Trust to take over the property if Land Holdings defaults on their loan. This was the last step Land Holdings needed before sending their financial packet to the Mississippi Gaming Commission for approval to start construction.

Fred Horsby, City Attorney for D’Iberville, says, “Once they close and finally wrap up their financing, which they are very close to doing, we're hoping in the next few days actually, we anticipate they will put their closing package together document wise and then petition the Gaming Commission to get final approval.” Back in April, Land Holdings missed their first financial deadline with the commission.
