Forest Gump wore his tennis shoes out trekking across the country. Passing beautiful mountains and gorgeous sunsets. Small towns were inspired by his dedication and determination. The only puzzling part was why? Why did Forest do it? In the end, no reason at all but to clear his mind.

Jenn Krussow of Duluth, MN and Georgia Rose of rural ND are cycling across the United States with a much better purpose, human trafficking awareness. The United State is home to more sex trafficking victims than any other nation. Human trafficking is the fastest growing black market worldwide, closing on drug trafficking. Human trafficking is now larger than the trans Atlantic slave trade event was. Krussow and Rose believe that we can all make a difference by learning and implementing prevention efforts in our communities. They invite interested community members to join them in speaking out.

Jenn and Georgia set out on their bikes at the onset of the New Year, cycling from San Diego, CA and plan to arrive in St. Augustine, FL by the first week of March. The two young women hope to start conversations with locals as they pass through cities such as Austin, TX; Hattiesburg, Ocean Springs, and Biloxi, MS; Mobile, AL; Pensacola, Tallahassee, Gainesville, and finally St. Augustine, FL, asking what human trafficking looks like in the area, what services are available for victims, and how others can get involved and how we as neighbors, communities, cities, and ultimately the nation can empower each other to end human trafficking in our lifetime.

The team is featured on EMPOWER: A Global Movement to End Human Trafficking on endhumantrafficking.com where they are spreading awareness and also raising funds for Source Annex, a rehabilitation safe home for rescued human trafficking victims. They are also keeping a blog at faithinactionblog.org
