These next few days will be critical for the Biloxi baseball stadium project. The bids on the stadium last week put the project $5 million over the $36 million budget.
The architect will report to the Biloxi City Council Tuesday with potential options and cost-cutting measures. The Harrison County Board of Supervisors tells News 25 they back the project and are firm believers that it will be done on time.
Windy Swetman, Harrison County District 1 Supervisor, says, “I think the City of Biloxi is certainly regrouping, but I do believe in our city leaders. I believe in the professionals that they hired. I think we're going to have Biloxi playing baseball in 2015. I'm very optimistic about it. The county is a partner in this with the city and we're there to help them in any way we can.”
Team owner, Tim Bennett, also tells the public the team will play in Biloxi in 2015.
