Crime Mapping Application for Smartphones

Biloxi and Gulfport police departments have announced that their criminal incident data is now live and available for public view. is a web based application for public mapping of criminal incidents and allows members of the community to view those incidents. The site will look like a map and will generate icons automatically from the incident data. These icons can be clicked on to find out more information about an incident. Director of Police in Biloxi, John Miller, says the site will help bridge the gap between the community and law enforcement. Members of the community also have the option to sign up for automatic alerts that would warn them of a crime that took place within two miles of their home, business, or even child’s school. A crime mapping app. is also available for free on smart phones and tablets.
