The route started on Lameuse Street just off of Highway 90 and looped through downtown Biloxi, ending at the Biloxi Mardi Gras Museum. The theme for the parade was ‘Celebrations Around the World’, and children dressed up in costumes representing a holiday or culture, but kids in the parade say their favorite part was just getting to participate in the parade. Alexis Dumont and Xena Norton, 5th grade students from Biloxi, say, “When I got to throw beads and ride on the train and getting to see all my friends and making everybody happy.” After the parade, marchers stopped at the Mardi Gras Museum for snacks and drinks. While there, judges scored costumes and floats in different age categories. Excited kids twirled on stage to show off their creations before the judges, hoping to bring home a trophy, but all showed good sportsmanship.
