The contract for the Biloxi baseball stadium construction was passed Tuesday at the Biloxi City Council meeting. W.G. Yates & Son Construction Company has been named construction manager for the baseball stadium, parking garage, and related facilities. Yates has done other projects for the city as well worked on construction of similar baseball stadiums. A representative from Yates attended the meeting to answer questions about the $36 million budget. Funding will come from the Governor's office and bonds, and they hope to secure funding from M.D.O.T. as well. Chet Nadolski, the representative for Yates, says, “We've got about another million and a half dollars worth of decisions with the design team to decide on. Simply put, if all those alternates are accepted, we'll be within the $36 million. It is a work in progress.”

Yates needs to cut another $1.3 million out of the budget to be under budget, but they hope to make those cuts within the next two weeks before construction starts. Yates says they are excited to get started and believe they can stay on the prescribed timeline. The Biloxi City Council will continue to discuss the name for the stadium and field, especially concerning the possibility of using the name rights as a funding stream.
