Mississippi Gulf coast spring break also known as ‘Black Spring Break’ will return next month, but there is some confusion about one of the proposed events. A rap concert at the Jackson County Fairgrounds is being promoted through social media, but Jackson County officials tell News 25 that the only event presently scheduled for that date is a car show. A Facebook page provides the names of several artists they say will perform. Monday, News 25 called the phone number listed on the Facebook page for the event, but the person News 25 spoke with refused to identify himself or the actual name of the organization he represents.

Originally, someone tried to schedule the concert at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, but the Coliseum was not available this year for the event. Chris Spear of the Coast Coliseum says, “Unfortunately, it just came down to a scheduling conflict. For that particular weekend, we are going to booked up full with our Crawfish Music Festival. We would love to have them if we had the space available, but this time around, it just happened that our Midway organization had to have that weekend, so we booked it up first.” Tuesday morning, Jackson County officials met to discuss the car show and decided if the fairgrounds will still host the event.
