People affected by the D'Iberville fire can slowly return to normalcy with help from other residents. Bridge Community Church has moved the donation location to Big Ridge Baptist Church in D'Iberville. Pastors say their facility was full within two hours of opening yesterday and the donations keep coming. Residents of Arbor View have an unlimited pass to pick up everything from clothes, to diapers, to plates to replace what was lost in Tuesday's blaze. Curtis Davis, the lead pastor at Bridge Community Church, says, “We had some people come in here last night and say it was like Katrina again, and for those that lost everything in the fire, it is living through starting all over again. It has been incredible. We are just blown away. We say we're blown away, but this is south Mississippi and this is how we take care of each other. D'Iberville and south Mississippi has just stepped up to the plate.”
Donations for the victims of the Arbor View fire are being accepted at Big Ridge Baptist Church on 3230 Big Ridge Road in D'Iberville. They are no longer accepting clothes, but are in need of household items to meet the needs of the families. Arbor View residents affected by Tuesday's fire can pick up everything they need from the church from 2 to 7 p.m. every day except Sundays, as well as between the hours of 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Saturdays. The church will accept and give out donations until next Saturday.
