Tuesday night, Senator Thad Cochran was campaigning in Biloxi at an event hosted by Coast Realtors. The Senator spoke to News 25 about changes in the state’s military reserve units.

Cochran has recently toured different reserve facilities around the state, specifically an Army Reserve facility in Tupelo that may soon be losing an Apache helicopter unit to an active Army facility outside the state. The change could cost hundreds of jobs at the Tupelo facility.

Cochran says, “And I’m hopeful that we would be able to avoid any stringent reductions in size or capability of our National Guard forces. They play a very important role in our national defense and I hope we can continue to take advantage of their volunteer efforts and our safety and security.”

Senator Cochran will be on the Coast all week campaigning for the general election in November.
