Senate incumbent, Thad Cochran, was campaigning down to the last minute Tuesday. Cochran has dramatically changed up his strategy over the last several weeks, showing a lot more energy in the runoff than in the primary election.
He was out on the Coast early Tuesday, trying to pull in any voters still on the fence about which candidate to support. The incumbent has taken some heat about reaching across party lines to attract Democrat voters during this election period. While he says he's confident in a win, the increased momentum of his campaigning shows he's not taking his opponent, Chris McDaniel, lightly.
Cochran says, “Well, you never lack opposition. That's the way the system works, and I think it's a healthy system. It’s proved to be good to have a periodic view of one's record and a conversation with the voters back home to be sure you're on the same wavelength with your constituency.” The incumbent voted via absentee ballot so he could take advantage of the day.
