The City of Gautier and the American Post 1992 Family held its first annual Avenue of Flags ceremony Monday. Eight military veterans from Jackson County who have passed away were honored at the ceremony. Every veteran has a flag flying in front of City Hall in their name. The city is also home to the state’s very first Veterans Tower. The only other two in the country are in California. Mayor Gordan Gollott says he hope Monday's ceremony will become a lasting tradition.

Gollott says, “This venue gives us the opportunity to honor veterans, our fallen heroes. I think the weather has turned out absolutely beautiful. Memorial Day is all about family and friends and we look forward to doing this for years to come.” The flags were donated by sponsors for each one of the veterans honored on Monday.
