The southern gaming region isn't just commercial. It also includes a broad range of tribal gaming from North Carolina to Florida. Here in Mississippi, the Choctaw nation's Pearl River Resorts are looking forward to renovations. The nation owns land in Jackson County, and once tried to pursue a gaming property there. Now, President Holly Gagnon says they are focusing on investing in their current properties.

Gagnon says, “There is nothing going on with the land down here. It is part of the land holdings for the tribe obviously. It is not our focus right now. We’re focused on the new renovations. They are a very big deal. The next year will be very busy with us and that’s what we have going on now.” The Choctaws own 60 acres of land off of Highway 57 near Ocean Springs.
