City leaders held a special meeting this morning with developers of the new casino. The council is giving the group until this Friday to sign an amended agreement with the city, plus make a $25,000 payment. Once signed, developers will have until January first to come to an agreement with property owners and secure options. If developers fail to get site control by then, the city will void the contract. Officials with the development group confirm they will sign the new lease. Robby Ellis, a D’Iberville City Councilman, says, “We're just trying to get straight what their intentions are to make sure they are being held accountable. Property owners are concerned that they haven't been very forthcoming. Our biggest concern is that the property owners are being taken care of and that our needs are being met and that we have a good, honest, working relationship.”
