The C.T.A. will shift their route over to Dedeaux Road to allow more access to public transportation for the residents living there. Gulfport councilmen have been working closely with the C.T.A. to make this change happen and believe it's a win for the city and C.T.A. both. Myles Sharp, a Councilman for Ward 5, says, "That route is taking them to the shopping areas over along the Highway 49 Corridor, Crossroads Mall, Walmart, and these folks who live in these neighborhoods out along Dedeaux Road who may or may not have family members who are able to drive them or themselves, it gives them access to a public means of transportation.” Sharp says the new bus routes to the shops will improve the quality of life for the residents while generating more tax revenue for the city.
