The body was found in the man's apartment at the Maison d'Orleans apartment complex on Highway 90 and an autopsy, completed this morning, has confirmed that Carmen Edwards was murdered. Chief John Miller of the Biloxi Police Department says, "At this point, we are treating this case as a homicide." A crime scene last night has become a manhunt today after Biloxi Police identified a person of interest in the murder of the Biloxi resident. Miller also says, "We got a call yesterday in the afternoon. It came in as a medical emergency. We arrived at Maison d'Orleans and found the deceased." Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove identified the deceased as 63 year old Carmen Edwards. The coroner says the cause of death was blunt force trauma. Edwards, believed to live alone, was discovered by a friend. Miller also says, "...who walked in checking on him and then called us." Friday morning, Biloxi Police identified 43 year old, Michael Floyd Wilson, also known as ‘Pretty Boy Floyd’ as a person of interest. Chief Miller also states, "We think he may have some information that may help us. He may point us in the right direction."
The person of interest has had brushes with the law before. Just four days ago, Michael Wilson was arrested on a slew of charges, including possession of a controlled substance and eluding law enforcement. Miller concludes, "If someone happened to be in that area and happened to see something that just didn’t seem right, call us. Don't worry that maybe it was nothing. Let us figure that out. Just call us. We'd appreciate the help." News 25 tried to get a comment from the manager at Maison d'Orleans. She declined to comment. Biloxi Police say the investigation is ongoing and anyone with any information is urged to call the Biloxi Police Department at (228) 392-0641, or call Crimestoppers at 1-877-787-5898.
