The Jackson County Board of Supervisors has accepted a bid proposal to construct a new adult detention center. Caddell Construction Company in Montgomery was awarded the bid at just over 27 million dollars. Chris Lunsford is the architect on the project and says construction could begin as early as next month. Lunsford says, "We were selected to rebid the project and we have done that now over the past several months, and we’re now ready to get the contractors prepared to begin construction. Likely we’ll be working on bonds and insurance and maybe after the first of the year, possibly starting." Officials say the project will likely take 12 to 14 months to be completed.
