Tuesday night, the Biloxi City Council threw out all of the bids for the Beauvoir/Edgewater infrastructure repair program. The bid for the $2.1 million project to revitalize water and sewer lines near Edgewater Mall was originally awarded to the Hemphill Construction Company, but Lane Construction Company objected, saying they were the lower bidder, but they were rejected for a minor technicality. The Biloxi City Council decided to start over on the bidding process.

George Murphy, the attorney for Lane Construction, says, “Well, I was disappointed they didn’t go ahead and award the project and save $138,000, however, I was happy that my client gets a chance again to compete for this job with his Coast concern, for this Coast business.” City officials say it will take six weeks for a new bid to be awarded.
