Wednesday, the City of Biloxi named its Mom of the Year. The award, presented by the Biloxi Lions Club, was given to 91 year old, Geraldine Fountain Blessey. The winner was chosen by judges in north Mississippi based on letters of nomination from loved ones. This is the 59th annual award presentation and Mayor Holloway was happy to give the city award to the woman who started her family at age 16. In the spirit of Mother's Day, Blessey says her mother is the reason she has succeeded.
Blessey says, “Well I grew up with a great mom and da. She taught me everything I knew when I became a mom, so that was my foundation.” Blessey's three children wrote a joint letter of nomination for their mother, outlining the many reasons she is an amazing mom.
