On 15 February, 2014 at approximately 0841 hours the Biloxi Police Department arrested Kevin Van Tran, 22 years of age, of D’Iberville and charged him with Auto Burglary.
The arrest stems from a report of an auto burglary having occurred on 18 September 2013 at the IP Casino parking garage, located at 850 Bayview Ave. The owner reported that the interior of his car had been ransacked and that several items of value were stolen. The subsequent investigation revealed surveillance video capturing the subject burglarizing the car. Kevin Van Tran was known to frequent the IP Casino and was positively identified as the subject burglarizing the car, taking items of value from it and then leaving the scene in another vehicle.
A warrant for auto burglary was subsequently granted by Judge Albert Fountain and bond was set at $10,000. Kevin Van Tran was listed as a wanted fugitive and information regarding the warrant was released to the media at the beginning of the year. Several helpful tips from the public were received. Tran was located and arrested in D’Iberville on the outstanding warrant without incident and transported to the Biloxi Police Department. He was then processed and transported to the Harrison County Jail to await an initial appearance.
