Biloxi City Council Delays Vote on Baseball Grant

The Biloxi City Council has once again postponed a vote on a grant agreement for the baseball stadium. The proposed grant would have given the city 15 million dollars to spend on the construction of the baseball stadium. The council decided to table the vote until next Tuesday so they could go over the contract in better detail. Officials with the city say this delay will not have a major impact if approved next week. Michael Cavanaugh, a lawyer, says, "That really won’t have any effect. The idea that this is on so early is that this is money that can be accessed faster than others, so it can be used to get the ball rolling on construction." The council will also vote on issuing bonds next Tuesday. If both items pass, construction can begin soon.
