The sun from this weekend continued Monday, and businesses along the beach were happy about that. These businesses are already doing better than expected. Water, sand, and sun are the perfect combination for Biloxi Beach Rentals on the Gulf Coast. This vendor opened up this past weekend with jet skis, paddleboards, and umbrella rentals. Their two locations maximized outreach, and they started the season strong. Troy Voth, manager of Biloxi Beach Jet Ski Rentals, says, "We did pretty good. At the mall location we did 21 rides on Saturday, and yesterday, we did eight rides down here, so it was better than expected, but we still hope business picks up a little bit." Voth says he isn't happy until they can get 25 to 30 rides in a day. One way they get more customers is by targeting the military.

Josh Ware, another manager at Biloxi Beach Jet Ski Rentals, says, "We run a military discount and we try to support our troops. Before they go out, when they ship out, we give them a good group rate. We drop off flyers and let them know we are here." Biloxi Beach Jet Ski Rentals hopes that the eight jet skis they recently purchased will help their sales throughout the season. Sandra Krall, Manager of Get Wet, says, "We put more chairs out this year than we had out last year, and we have twice as many kayaks, twice as many floats, twice as many aqua cycles, so apparently it was a good year because he doubled up on everything." Krall also says they've also done better than expected thus far this season. She attributes their success to the good weather, and says warm temperatures and convenient tides are the key to good business. Krall says, "A lot of people don't understand the tides around here because they're not from here, so they come out, and of course a lot of times the tides are out in the morning, then come back in the afternoon, but they come out in the morning and they're like, 'Where's your water?' That's probably the biggest thing is that."

Both Biloxi Beach Jet Ski Rentals and Get Wet say they hope business continues to peak into their main season in July and August. Most beach vendors, including Biloxi Beach Jet Ski Rentals and Get Wet are open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
