Singing River Health System is pleased to congratulate Auxiliary Volunteers of the Quarter at both Ocean Springs Hospital and Singing River Hospital for the fourth quarter of 2013.
At Ocean Springs Hospital, Fran Paz was selected by her fellow volunteers to receive the award. Paz has been a member of the Ocean Springs Hospital Auxiliary since 1998 and has served in many capacities including 16 years working in the Gift Shop and most recently serving at the front desk in the main lobby.
Paz is from New Jersey, NY and moved south after she married. She is a well-traveled person, having lived in New Jersey, Florida, Mississippi, California and Alaska.
Near the end of their careers, Paz and her husband opened up a successful home-based business providing lie detector services. Together they have one daughter and two great grandchildren.
At Singing River Hospital, Frankie May was chosen for the award. She has been a member of the Singing River Hospital Auxiliary since February 2002. May has worked 1,902 hours in the patient escort department, where she helps people navigate their way through the hospital.
May is said to be a people person and enjoys seeing the expressions on the patients’ faces when they are told they are well and getting to go home.
May was born, educated and raised her children in Pascagoula, Miss. She has been married to Gary May for 57 years and together they have four children and nine grandchildren.
May worked in the Moss Point School District for 29 years as a substitute teacher and secretary to the principal and director of transportation. She is a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.
Both award recipients were honored at SRHS Awards ceremonies.
