Treat yourself to a delicious lunch for just a dollar on March 13th. The community is invited to taste over 20 types of uniquely created chili and vote for their favorite recipe in a People’s Choice Award. The event is March 13th at the Pascagoula Senior Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds benefit Relay for Life of East Jackson County.
There will be door prizes, entertainment, delicious sandwiches, soups, and sweet tea prepared by Ms. Bea and the wonderful kitchen staff at the Pascagoula Senior Center. Each item is just a dollar.
The event is presented by M&M Bank, The Bacot McCarty Foundation, and sponsored by Singing River Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, the City of Pascagoula, and Camellia Home Health & Hospice. Sponsorships range from $100 to $500 to be a vendor.
New to the event in 2014 is a silent auction, as well as a vendor's choice award.
The inspirational speaker, who is a young cancer survivor, is local student Gabrielle Spicer.
The 2012 and 2013 “People’s Choice Winner”, Chef Tony Manning of Riverchase Village, will be defending his reigning title. When asked what makes this event special, organizer Nicole Etheridge believes, “This event makes people smile. It is not just a health fair. It is a united effort to support the American Cancer Society and to engage the community while also promoting local businesses.”
When this event first began in 2012, the target demographic was primarily senior citizens. Presently, the event has evolved into an event which has gained the support of the entire community. What makes this event unique is that it is interactive, informative, fun, and most importantly, philanthropic.
