Yates Construction, the company awarded the bid to build the Biloxi baseball stadium, gave an update to the City Council Tuesday night. Yates told the council that the project remains on schedule and that two out of the 12 oak trees removed from the construction site are salvageable and will be given to the Maritime Group. Yates only has two more buildings to demolish before they can begin raising the actual structure, which they plan to happen by late May.
Jason Wold with Yates Construction says, “In a couple weeks, you'll start to see utility work happening on Caillavet Street. With the structural package out on the street now, bid’s on the 23rd. About mid-May, hopefully structural work will begin.” Wold says the contracts for things like seating and signage will be awarded to companies by June.
