Rob Knight is a familiar face along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, having been an on-air personality in the local area since 2005. Knight is originally from New York and was able to travel and forecast weather around the world as an active-duty member of the United States Air Force since 1992.
After an early retirement from the U.S.A.F. in 2005, Knight rocketed into the public eye as on on-air meteorologist during Hurricane Katrina. “Meteorology is not a job for me, but a passion. I’m fortunate to have been in this wonderful field since 1992,” says Knight. He credits the core values he learned in the Air Force of "Service Before Self, Excellence In All We Do, and Attention To Details" and incorporates them into his forecasting and everyday life.
Knight holds a Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology from Florida Institute of Technology and has been working on his Master’s degree at Florida State University. Knight devotes much of his free time to volunteering; he works with the American Cancer Society, Boys and Girls Club of South Mississippi, and enjoys involving himself in various other community functions.
