Thursday, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (M.G.C.C.C.) hosted commencement ceremonies at the Coast Coliseum. Early Thursday, Singing River C.E.O., Kevin Holland, spoke to nursing school graduates. Thursday night, the other graduates also crossed the stage. The Coliseum was filled with caps, gowns, proud graduates, and even more proud family and friends. The occasion is special for all, especially a mother daughter pair who reached the milestone together.
Susan Brazell, a mother and graduate, says, “I'm proud to be standing here myself, but I'm proud that we're doing it together. This is a really special memory.” Brittnay Brazell, daughter and graduate, says, “I'm surprised she's not crying. You hear the jokes our mom goes to college, well my mom is with me in college, but it's cool. It's not a bad thing.” C.E.O. of the American Association of Community Colleges, Dr. Walter Bumphus, was the keynote speaker for the evening ceremony.
