They say patience is a virtue, and for the city of D'Iberville, that rings true. After twenty years in the making, a casino is on its way to D'Iberville. For D'iberville's City Manager, Bobby Eleuterius, today is a very special day for his city. Eleuterius says, "This is one of the best feelings I think I’ve experienced in many, many years.” The Mississippi Gaming Commission voted three to zero in favor of the Scarlet Pearl Casino to break ground next year. Randall A. Fine, the Managing Director of the Fine Point Group, says, "We close the financing and then start construction." The miniature golf course included in the casino plans played a key role in the commission’s positive vote. Fine also says, "What's important to the commission is our 36 hole miniature golf course, which we think will be one of the finest in the entire country, and certainly here on the Gulf Coast."

There is no shortage of slot machines on the Gulf Coast, which is why the Gaming Commission thought the site needed something a little extra for visitors and residents to enjoy. John Hairston, the Mississippi Gaming Commissioner, says, "So, we want the casino to do well at the gaming tables, but we also want visitors and the people that live here to enjoy an amenity that's part of that construction project. This golf course is something we don't have." Hairston believes this project should move forward without any problems, thanks to its investors. Hairston also says, "I'd be very surprised if it didn't move forward effectively and very quickly. In fact, I'd be disappointed if it doesn't break ground the first quarter of 2014." The Commission says they expect the Scarlet Pearl to open by the summer of 2015.
