Showers and thunderstorms will continue across Southern Mississippi today. No severe weather in expected this afternoon. A few storm cells could develop gusty wind speeds with lightning and periodic downpours. Temperatures will be running slightly above normal for the next few days with highs near the mid 80's.

A tropical disturbance is expected to enter the Southern Gulf of Mexico by Thursday with a possible track placement in the mid gulf region for Friday. The exact track and development is still uncertain, but an approaching cold front sweeping across the United States on Saturday/Sunday could help steer this tropical system to the east of our region. Regardless, more rain is expected this weekend with a cool down beginning next week.
