Monday Night- Thunderstorms are popping up ahead of an extended cold front that is slowly approaching from the west. Deadly tornadoes have already been reported throughout Monday in parts of Mississippi. Thunderstorms are expected here on the Gulf Coast shortly after midnight. These storms will have the potential to become severe. All threats are possible with these storms including wind gusts over 60 miles per hour, quarter sized hail, and dangerous lightning. These storms will also have the potential to produce tornadoes. In the event of a tornado warning be prepared to seek shelter in the lowest most interior room of a sturdy building preferably away from windows. Broken windows and flying glass will be a major concern with this storm. The time frame right now has the strongest storms coming through between 1 and 3 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Expect showers to continue throughout the day on Tuesday with another chance of severe storms Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday morning the rain will start tapering off and give way to mostly sunny skies that will last through the weekend.
