Bellingrath Gardens
Winter is never bleak at Bellingrath Gardens and Home! Designed to give visitors and guests a unique look at Bellingrath through its distinct history, winter gardens and showcasing local and regional experts on plant care, Winter Wednesdays at Bellingrath is the perfect place to bring a friend and spend time among 65 acres of blooms!

1. All Winter Wednesday Programs begin at 10:00 AM in the Magnolia Room located in the Bellingrath Gardens and Home Café Building.

2. Admission - No charge for members and children 4 and under, $10 for Adults and $5.50 for children 5 to 12.

3. Registration is requested.


January 9 – Winter Garden Walk

· Check our the creative winter plantings throughout the Gardens with Barbara Smith Bellingrath Gardens Horticulture Display Manager.



January 16 – Pressed to Cut

· A look at antique glass in the Bellingrath Collection and special home tour with Tom McGehee, Bellingrath Home Curator.



January 23 – Education Docent Program

· Learn about our new education programs and how you can help. Presented by Nancy Gaillard, Bellingrath Gardens and Home Education Consultant.



January 30 – “Mobile & The Eastern Shore”

· History lecture and book signing by local author Frye Gaillard.



February 6 – Growing Citrus on the Gulf Coast

· Learn how to grow citrus in your home garden from Auburn research horticulturist Monte Nesbitt



February 13 – Annual Rose Pruning & Rose Care

· Every year around Valentine’s Day Bellingrath prunes its roses, come learn why and how. Program presented by Linda Guy, Bellingrath Gardens Rose Curator



February 20 – Celebrate Arbor Day

· TBA



February 27 – History of the Nursery Industry in Mobile & Baldwin Counties

· Nurseries have been a major industry in Coastal Alabama for many years, come hear why and their contribution to the world of horticulture. Program presented by Maarteen van der Giessen of van der Giessen Nursery, Inc.

Annual Forrest County Livestock Show
The Annual Forrest County Livestock Show will take place on the Complex Grounds. Forrest County 4-H and FFA students will be showing their prize cows, pigs and goats. These students spend a lot of time and effort in getting their animal ready to be shown. At the end of the show these students will sell their animal to the highest bidder. Come support Forrest County’s youth. Admission is free to the general public. For more information call 601-545-6083.

Annual South Mississippi District Livestock Show
The Annual South Mississippi District Livestock Show will be held on the Complex Grounds following the Annual Forrest County Livestock Show. The District Show will bring in competitors in from every Southeastern County. Admission is free to the general public. For more information call 601-545-6083.

February 9-10, 2008
Great Hattiesburg Gun and Knife Show
The Great Hattiesburg Gun & Knife Show will take place in the Main Arena. The two-day show will feature hundreds of tables of merchandise. Vendors from all over the region will be on hand to display their goods and will be willing to trade with individuals. The event will start Saturday at 9:00 am until 5:00 pm and resume Sunday at 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. Admission to the event is $5.00 for adults. Children 12 and under free. February 15-16, 2008
Southern Miss Coca-Cola Classic Rodeo
The Southern Miss Coca-Cola Classic Rodeo will take place on the Complex Grounds throughout the weekend. The annual event brings top professional cowboys and cowgirls from all over the country to compete for their chance to get closer to qualifying for the National Finals Rodeo. The rodeo will start at 7:30 pm both nights. Stay tuned for more information regarding ticket prices. For more information call 601-266-5405.
